Grateful For What I Do Have

Even though I may occasionally vent, I am very grateful for what I do have. In this time of giving thanks, I am very, very grateful to/for my sister/niece, my job (and all those who pulled for me to get it), and my neighbors and those in the neighborhood who have looked out for me. Brightest of Blessings in these difficult times, may all you've given come back tenfold. Blessed Be!

Dental Issues

Had to have a tooth extracted last week, and a whole boat load of other work to be done. I have some coverage but probably not everything will be covered. More blood work later on in the month (another C125), and no end of work in sight (not that I'm complaining but I am exhausted); and not enough time to do my own projects. It's maddening I tell you.

Halloween Rubber Stamp & Masking

Halloween Rubber Stamp & Masking
Originally uploaded by Deadicated.

I had to go downtown to buy some good rubber stamping paper. I went with a Strathm-Ultra White Wove (cover - 88 LB) that I bought at a place on 18 th street called Paper Presentations. I find that Inkjet papers just don't cut it for scrapbook projects and card making.

Edgar Allan Poe Died On This Day In 1849

It's also my mother and father's wedding anniversary. So Happy Anniversary in Heaven folks! Glad I went on my adventure to Michaels in Mt. Vernon yesterday, cause the weather is not cooperating today. I didn't buy not one thing on my list (the place had been picked over for Halloween already). When I took a second look at what I was buying, I decided to be more practical. I mainly bought some candle making supplies I needed. The holidays are right around the corner and for those of us who make some of our gifts, the time is now. So I spent the better part of yesterday making candles for Sowan.

My LED lights and resistors arrived from Hong Kong yesterday, now alls I need is a few odds and ends for my project. I'll have to hit a Radio Shack or something along those lines (I hear they're a bit pricey for LED stuff). I'd like to get a Cricut some time soon, and to set up a dark room for B+W, silkscreening and rubber stamp making. It's nice to be able to do your own projects and not have to worry about whoring your wares on eBay (which as a Seller, I absolutely hate now). It's been a year since I've sold anything on eBay. Gimme a break! I see people just giving their tie-dyes away and I refuse to do that, why bother.

In remembrance of the Bronx's most favorite son, Edgar Allan Poe, I'm listening to some of his works on audio today. It's also a great day to spend some time crafting with my neighbors, and getting ready for a new work week tomorrow (ironing, ironing ...).

The Night Shift

Never thought I'd be working The Graveyard but here I am. Me, one who never stayed up after Nightline. There's more camaraderie amongst us creatures of the night, and the pace is much different than days. I like it but miss that big yellow ball in the sky. I also wake up tired (but it pays the rent and for that I'm grateful). So it's off to the saltmine to what will hopefully be a uneventful night.

Doing Battle With Medical Billing

Still no word back on the C125, when I called the doctors office they pretty much said don't call us we'll call you. Then I get a bill from where I work, I'm not suppose to get any bills I'm covered. I no sooner resolve that issue, now I'm getting another bill from Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. Then my sister wonders why I haven't even attempted to see the dentist (since I'm paying into it). Not sure if it's possible to ruin my credit any more than it already is from the bankruptcy.

Got Rid of Zazzle

Zazzle thought they were going to keep being cute with me; they approved my images, took my money (charged my PayPal account) and then told me the image was infringinging on a copyright. Meanwhile, the images were a morph of, or variation of material that either wasn't copyrighted or in public domain. I wouldn't mind but the images were approved, and in some cases, I had already bought merchandise with the very same imagery on it. Not only did they put the order through, and charge my PayPal account; it took them almost 24 hours to refund my money. They have to be kidding me. If they had a problem with the image, they shouldn't have put the order through or approved the graphic/s in the first place. Well needless to say, they lost me as a customer. I've been taking all the links to Zazzle off of every site / page I had it on. Zazzle, here's a news flash, people don't need you; you sure do need customers though. Me, I live in the greatest city in the world, printing services are a dime a dozen and you just put the fire in my belly to do better (and probably at a much lower price then their inflated crap). So bye-bye Zazzle, don't let the door hit you in the can on the way out!

You Don't Have To Spend A Lot Of Money

I didn't want to waste the last day of summer, so I went downtown on a walkabout.
Brooklyn Bridge
Staten Island Ferry
ferryride0051
I took the Express Bus down, (now up to $5.50 each way) and walked on the East Side toward the Ferry. Stopped off at Grand Street and bought 3 tangerines ($1.00), and at the Staten Island Ferry Building there was a Farmer's Market inside; I bought 2 donuts ($1.00) and got on the Ferry (for free). It's a nice way to kill an hour. Took the #5 home at the Battery ($2.25), and made it back before crush hour.

Putting Off A Phone Call

I just wanted to go one Summer without finding out yet another family member (this time me) has or may have cancer. The C125 results must be back by now, it's been over a week. Every other year we've had some one either find out their sick, or die, around July. When faced with a reality check like this, things change. It changes your whole perspective on life. I no longer had time to waste on the phone with a friend/s whose been pissing and moaning about the same old crap for the past 30 years. I enjoyed the people whom I chose to spend time with, more. Found it easy to say "No" to things that no longer jived with me. Like the friend/s who think their going to show up at your door with no job (or prospects of getting one), to live with you. I'm still paying a high IT/Phone bill from when my friends son stayed here last year.

Psych!

Cleared one hurdle only to be faced with another. Went back for additional imaging and received the "All Clear" for up top. No sooner did I get home, and call my sister (the worry wort) to give her the good news, my phone rings with news from my gyn that I need to take the C125 blood test again. This is a test to determine if you have the markers for ovarian cancer. I have some worry-some issues going on. It almost makes me happy to be at work where I can take my mind off of my woas. So tomorrow it's blood work for breakfast.

Same Old Stuff, Different Day!

I slept for the past two days, I am terminally bored and really can't find happiness. Happiness comes from within, nothing you can smoke, ingest, snort ... will get you there (maybe a little temporary false happiness). I'm totally disgusted by most of my self serving friends who only call me when they need something that I really just can't supply them with anymore; it makes me not want to answer the phone, door, emails ... cause it's always the same old crap. I got nothing but a knife in the back from my so-called friends. I really saw people's true colors when my mother was dying, and because I was kicked when I was down, I just don't trust people. It makes it hard to make new friends when you think everybody is out to get whatever it is they can out of you.

Falling Down

My phone was down all week, and it couldn't have happened at a worse time. I had just received a rather ominous letter that they needed further imaging from a mammography I had just received. I'm not for this new plan that Obama is trying to shove down the American peoples throats. I got lousy care the few months I was on Medicaid. Believe me, if I find out that Jacobi dropped the ball and failed to inform me I have cancer, there will be hell to pay. I lost my Medicaid when I received a few bucks of insurance money from my mother's passing (enough to keep me going for less than a year until I found a job). I basicly went broke taking care of sick and dying parents. This country treats illegal immigrant better than its' own citizens.
Obama is a fucking commie!!!I'm glad I didn't vote for him, He Sucks!!!
This healthcare plan of his is over 10,000 pages long and I'm wondering if its' posted online for all to read.

Oh, forgot, when I tried to reapply for Medicaid after my mother died, I was turned down. I had less than $3000. to my name (enough to keep me afloat for 3 months at best) and I was turned down. White people need not apply was what the Medicaid application should have read.

Acrylic Blocks & Foam Mounting Sheets Arrived

I decided to start using unmounted rubber stamps and acrylic blocks. It makes sense financially and for storage reasons too. The unmounted stamp is held to the acrylic with static cling, so its not permanent; you don't wind up with a kazillion wooden blocks. Rubber stamps can be expensive, but they don't have to be if your willing to put some work into it. You'll have to trim the unmounted stamps with a scissor made for said purpose and you'll have to mount them yourself. Then you'll need to decide if you want to continue using wood blocks, or if you'll try acrylic and some just use an unmounted stamp but be prepared to get your hands dirty if you use that method. Happy Stampin'!

Went On A Holga Photo Shoot Yesterday

As a birthday present to myself I went downtown on a photo shoot along the Mighty Hudson and Highline Area. I had one of my favorites, Papaya King, for lunch and a cup of the most heavenly hazelnut ice cream from Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream. The weather was beautiful and I hope my Holga photographs came out good although I wont know for a while, I haven't had a chance to get them developed yet. I did some B+W, Color slide, Sprocket 35 MM Film and Provia 120 MM too.

Change Is Good

For someone who doesn't like to step out of their comfort zone that's huge. I changed the index / front page of my web site, and will be working on improving it. It really doesn't do me justice or have a clear purpose really. Unfortunately, I have to work with the tools available to me. I'm working on two older computers, that don't do Flash and movies (and such). My sites are hand coded by me. At least its' accessible, I come across many sites whose content I can't view. Deadicated is was and always will be a Work-In-Progress. Aren't we all?

Sqidon't miss my Holga-Lomography Lens on Squidoo (one of my favorite sites, besides Blogger). I've added links to groups that inspire me, "Holga" searches on Flickr and Twitter, YouTube "Holga How-To's" and more. If you are a member of Squidoo, please Rank/Rate/Review my lens if you happen to have the time (or the inclination).
